2011 BEN RUSH WALK-A-THON & Rush After Dark

 

What: This will be our primary fundraiser of the year. If we meet our goal, we will not need to raise additional funds throughout the school year. Ben Rush students will participate in a walk-a-thon to raise money for their school during the week of October 24-28. To enable all students' participation, walking will be done during PE classes and during an all-school walk. We hope every family will participate in some manner!

 

Why and How Much: Limited public school funds cannot provide all the programs and resources we would like our children to have. Money raised from this fundraising event will support classroom materials, curriculum enrichment, teacher and staff support, field trip transportation, and learning opportunities for our children. Our goal is $25,000, which is $50 per student.

 

Rush After Dark: We will wrap up Walk-a-Thon Week the evening of Friday, October 28th with a family walk from 6:30-7:30 PM and a sponsored celebration party from 7:30-8:30 PM in the school gym. We are encouraging all Rush families to walk their final laps with their children and participate in the festivities. Rush students and younger siblings are invited to wear their Halloween costumes (non-scary and age-appropriate PLEASE!). Glow necklaces will be distributed to all children at the evening walk. Rush After Dark is sponsored by Debra Sinick Real Estate.

 

Volunteers: We need over 100 volunteer hours to make this event successful! PLEASE sign up to help: set-up, check-in/check-out stations, lap counters, and celebration staff. October 12th – Kick-off Assembly at 9:00 AM

October 12th – Walk-a-thon Packets Go Home in Backpacks

October 13th – 27th - Collect Pledges & Donations

OCTOBER 28TH – PLEDGE FORMS DUE

October 31st – Pledge forms returned to help collect money

October 28th – November 6th – Collect Pledge Money

NOVEMBER 7TH – MONEY DUE

November 9th – Celebration Assembly (Awards Announced)
