What are the PTA Fundraising Plans for 2010-2011?
The Rush PTA operating budget for 2010-2011 is $74,500. Some of our programs are break-even (revenue received equal expenses spent), while other programs are supported by the generous donations of our Rush families. This school year, we anticipate that we will need to raise nearly $35,000 from our student body.
As in past years, we will ask families to make charitable contributions to our PTA chapter in the fall. We call this our “Pass the Hat Fundraiser” and encourage you to consider making a $50 per child donation. Our fundraising goal for the fall is $17,000: we hope to meet this goal through a combination of “Pass the Hat” contributions, employer matching funds, and proceeds from “smart shopper” programs. (There will be other fundraisers this school year to raise money to fund our ongoing operating budget needs.)
How does the PTA allocate its financial resources?
The Ben Rush PTA supports activities not funded by state and district budgets. Over the past few years, we have underwritten the following:
Science Fair • Art Docents • Passport Program • Nature Vision • Young Author’s Day • Class Field Trips • Physical Education Equipment • School Assemblies • Emergency Preparedness • Teacher Classroom Supplies • Staff Appreciation • Ice Cream Socials • Family Fun Nights (Skate King, Pottery Night, Bingo Night and Sock Hop) • Student Scholarships • Peace Coaches • Math Enrichment • Safety Patrol Supplies • Running Club • Robotics Club • School Directory • Musical Instruments • Electronic PTA Newsletters
$mart $hopper: Help Ben Rush by doing the things you do anyway, like shopping, dining out, and searching the Internet.
